No crew leaves for a Bergen high-rise until building management has accepted our insurance certificate. Then the truck needs a legal spot on the street, and a New York move needs its bridge route.
For a Bergen job we start with four things: the building's approval, the elevator's dimensions, where the truck will load, and the route from the truck to your unit. For a high-rise, we get the building's current insurance instructions and have our insurance agent issue the certificate and any endorsements it asks for. The crew is dispatched only after management accepts it.
Buildings set their own move rules, and two published examples show how much they can decide, as posted when we checked in October 2026. Riverview at City Place in Edgewater allows moves Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and none on weekends or legal holidays. It asks for at least seven days' notice and a certificate of insurance. Linwood Park in Fort Lee wants an application and a $500 deposit at least seven days ahead, pads the elevator itself, and permits no moves on Sundays or holidays.
Before we confirm a Bergen move, we work out where the truck can legally stand, what permission it needs, who applies and who pays. The booking paperwork says who handles it. In Fort Lee, a commercial vehicle can park inside a residential permit zone for eight hours, and contractors working in a zone register their vehicles with the Parking Authority.
Ridgewood keeps every vehicle off its public streets and lots from 2 AM to 6 AM. When a move runs over two days, we arrange a legal, secure overnight spot for the loaded truck before loading starts. You know ahead of time whether your things stay on the truck or go into storage. We never assume the truck can sit outside the house overnight.
For a move into New York City we plan backward from the receiving building's access window. A short trip on the map can still meet bridge traffic, a loading restriction and a hard elevator cutoff. Moving trucks cross the George Washington Bridge on the upper level. On the New York side the truck needs a legal route, because the city keeps trucks off most parkways. Crossing the state line makes it an interstate move, which Century runs under its FMCSA authority as a motor carrier of household goods, USDOT 1336680 and MC-515686.
We do not book a Sunday move in Paramus without first confirming with the borough that the work is permitted. Section 391-2 of the borough code says no worldly employment or business, except works of necessity and charity, shall be performed on Sunday. The chapter's listed exemptions do not name moving.
